I changed picture and used a private picture of my nephew, because of copy rights. I think this is better since it make it more clear that we hurt our children, when I show the parents hands. Still have to work on the gas mask though! Do you know where i can find a mask like this, so i can take a picture? 

I also changed it by taking away the text.. What do you think of the new poster?

Domestic violence1

This Is one of my first Images I've been messing about with on the topic of domestic violence. Still working on the logo/caption.

I know the HUGE black space needs adjusting/cropping but I thought i'd get something up here.

All criticism and comments welcome :)

This is my third design... please be aware this is not full size so the quality may not be the best. 

Here i am looking at playing with the innocence of a sign and adding a gun and a bag of drugs to it to add another meaning. Any feedback would be appreciated.

new consumerism poster

ONCE AGAIN, THE COLOURS ARE NOT CORRECT ON THE IMAGE BEING DISPLAYED HERE! I'm sorry I don't know what I am doing wrong. Overall the poster has uploaded terribly, I can assure you it's not like this, but you get the idea.

I hope you can understand my developments though. As you can see I have focused my poster design more by getting a closer shot of the model. From previous feedback I decided the background needed to be darker and show how poverty stricken some areas of the world actually are in order for the viewer to see the real contrast. To emphasize this point I changed the background to greyscale and played with different levels of brightness and contrast, etc in order to get the right feel.

I played around with the image of the model by scanning and photocopying several times to get a more suitable image, I also played with various filters in order to achieve the right look.

I would really appreciate some feedback on this please! What do you think? Do you think the text is needed? etc. Thank you.

i changed the poster after the feedback, and now i made the gun out of different toys,
im not so sure how i like the new one.

STOP CONSUMERISM 3

I have developed the illustration since last post.
I wonder if you think it would be better to create a background (shopping atmosphere or even the hangman platform?) or if its better to just have it with one fill colour so that the main illustration is more in focus.
Do you think the blood drops should be real clothing or is that too much?
Is type (Stop Consumerism) necesary?

I have re-done my poster, same idea but better images and blending. changed the typeface to but I'm unsure on it, but better to post up and get feed-back as I'm finding it useful 

Re-Think

The main thing I have realised from the feedback is that in my previous ideas I have shown the environment in a healthy condition even though I am trying to show the effect war has on it. I have reverted back to the original style to some degree but kept the general theme. I have posted a visual with type and without type just to see which works best. Does the one without it convey the message?

Drink Driving Update

Here I have looked at using photography for my poster, the idea is to have the car crash inside the actual drink, I feel this strongly represents drink driving but im not sure whether I should include a few words?

HOAX IMPACT - mobile & playstation

PLAYSTATION - I thought to use this idea for a Playstation because from my research, most of the hoax callers are between 8 and 20 years old. So, most of young people love to use Playstation. I thought to use these text and images like this to show that it is not fun to do that when you are bored. I used the background in Black and White and the TV screen in colour mode to show some effects. 

MOBILE PHONE - So, most of young people love to use mobile phones, especially me. This message is to tell people who is planning to make hoax calls and Fire and Rescue Service will find out who you are and you will get a £5,000 fine, 6 months in prison, or both! I thought to add a little logo of Hoax Impact on it but I am not sure about it.

This is another idea i'm currently working on. I've subverted a cash point together with an arcade gambling machine to express my personal opinion on the current banking collapse.

Casino Banking

I took on board the feedback from last week and produced another design. I've kept the same Culture Jamming style and satirical theme but have aimed my attack on a bigger and more world renowned bank in HSBC. I've simplified my design by choosing a more instantly powerful image which makes the need for an additional tagline  redundant.

Homeless ideas

just a few quick ideas, try and get my brain going. The homeless people in Wolverhampton seem to be camera shy so I have decided to build on other resources, but again be cruel, I agree that the idea's need more direction but I feel the images themselves are quite strong

I'm trying to get the viewer to report and stop child abuse.

A quarter of adults in the UK have worried that a child they know may have be neglected, but over a third did not act on their concerns.

After a lot of consideration I decided to make a poster to make people aware and think critical about who's really controlling our world. I got very inspired after watching the "Zeitgeist - Addendum" movie about conspiration theories, greed and that few people have the power and control of almost everything in this world, including us.

Human rights, our right to be individuals and to control our own identity, is something that is important for us. Who can we trust and why shouldn't we trust? We can't just be victims of our own society, we have to think and be critical for our own protection.

"Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person" (Article 3, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948)
"Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law" ( Article 6)

The idea is to make people think about what they accept everyday, without questioning the terms. I do it all the time my self, press accept and "trust" in just 2 sec. But what is really happening out there? Who and why do someone want to control us?

WAR - unfinished

My basic idea is to display war through "modern youth."
Vanity is a major part of youth, so my first ideas were to take that vanity away.
After researching war, most of the images i came across were of horrific scars and dead people.
So i thought i would cover a person with vanity in scars. (i no its a bit sick)
But it still was a good idea to me, so i attempted to paint realistic scars on top of the image i have chosen in Photoshop.
After i accomplished that i felt that it needed something else, so i started to manipulate the image further with red and grey tones.
I added war at the bottom of the poster by overlapping two fonts to produce the effect i wanted, then i added a black hawk and some broken glass just to give it some character.
(because of the image size you cant really see the scars.)

let me no what you think of it anyways? :D

Cocaine Trafficking

This is my initial poster design. I have chosen Cocaine Trafficking as my subject, it is one i feel strongly about. I want to emphasise the idea that families and children are being controlled and even die by drug trafficking. Their desperation for a little money pushes them to risk their, and their children's lives.

I wanted to focus on the idea of the fact that young children die to transport the drug so my poster focuses on this area. This is my initial feel for it and I'm aware that it may need improving... please leave your comments with any advice.

I have sorted out how to make the image look better, however I am still unsure of how to contextualise the child labour element to it. In other words, I need to bring across how child labour is happening throughout the world, and Fairtrade aims to get rid of this, instead giving families their right to an income.

Should I use one image?

Should I do a collage within the coffee?

Also, I'm trying the image without the caption, or Fairtrade logo, to see if it has the same effect.

Any comments will be very much appreciated.

This is my idea at the moment, to tell people about child soldiers and make them want to do something about it.

It need more work, but im not sure what i will change about it yet.

The subject matter in this design is the banking collapse, i continued with the Culture Jamming theme and have subverted/satirised a Royal Bank Of Scotland ad. 

Human Rights / Cultural Takeover

Being a big fan of Adbusters/Culture Jamming I decided to pursue this route for my poster design. Culture Jamming is the act of transforming existing mass media to produce negative commentary about itself, using the original medium's communication method. In this design the subjects covered are human rights abuses (torture/rendition), advertising propaganda and the cultural takeover by big corporations.

This is my new poster, please let me know what you think. I have used a photograph of Goa in India for my background, as you can see there are 2 girls carrying branches on their heads and in the foreground I have photographed a friend carrying lots of 'designer' shopping bags while on her mobile phone and as a complete contrast to the Indian girls she is carrying shoe boxes on her head. I wanted to show how ridiculous our 'consumer culture' has become and by putting the two images next to each other to create one image I hope this is achieved. The colours that appear here are not correct, they seem to have changed when I uploaded the image, but you get the idea.

Biodiversity

I've decided to do some research on lacks of biodiversity in our ecosystems. As an effect of recent industrial booms we are the reason of the greatest mass extinction of species since the vanishing of dinosaurs 65 mln years ago when Earth was probably hit by giant meteor.

I'm not sure about the composition and the use of colour but I think it looks quite moody in greyscale and im considering adding more text information.
Brain is used as a clear, hopefuly, metaphore and can be used even in wider context. Any suggestions welcome!
