Here's one of my ideas based around anti-war although it could be used for general anti-gun/violence. Wanted a very simple, visually striking poster. The red blood on white works quite well i think and the subject should be understandable.. hopefully. Comments and options please :)

think the idea is great mate, the simplicity of the poster is what will make the impact.
when you were describing it, I did not imagine the hole being as big, maybe try slightly smaller, to highlight the large ares it could have hit. I would try having it not so central as well, and I dont think it will look as good but try drips coming down, just so you can see the difference.

i really like it because it simple and gets the message across although i think the blood splatters look a bit too 'neat' if that makes sense-needs to be a bit messy and violent i think.. :)
I agree with selina, that the blood could somehow be made more striking, as I'm not sure how the blood will look when the poster is printed full sized,
Apart from the I think the idea and tagline gets the message across well.
